Private Label Trade Show
The Private Label Manufacturers Association is a non-profit organization founded in 1979 to promote store brands worldwide. It is the only trade group of its kind, representing over 5,000 member companies in more than 80 countries.
In addition to annual, industry-defining trade shows in Chicago and Amsterdam, PLMA offers members annual conferences; executive education and professional development programs; near real time department and category sales data and trends; market research and consumer opinion surveys; and regularly scheduled videos and publications.
PLMA has been an important partner every step of the way as the industry has reached unprecedented levels of market penetration. Store brands are consistently outperforming national brands across the U.S., growing faster, expanding share and delivering record-setting sales results.
“Consumers aren’t buying private label because they have to — they’re buying the products because they want to,” says Peggy Davies, PLMA President. “For the most part, private brands used to be about saving money. Today, retailers’ own brands are winning on quality, flavor, wellness, variety, health, sustainability and value — all the things consumers actually care about.”
“Private label growth reflects a shift in consumer priorities, as retailer-owned brands increasingly compete on factors beyond price,” adds President Davies. “As an association we were particularly thrilled to see the creative ways retailers and their suppliers celebrated Store Brands Month, an annual, nationwide initiative to expand shopper engagement with our products. It is PLMA’s mission to be a key helpmate to one of America’s most innovative and growth-oriented industries.”
PLMA member companies make food, snacks, beverages, health and beauty, household, kitchen, auto and general merchandise, among other CPG grocery products. Membership is open to manufacturers, brokers, trade suppliers and other companies involved in the promotion of private label.
